More than 26,000 people will run for a future without Alzheimer’s disease at the 43rd El Corte Inglés Race
- Among the favourites for the podium are the Catalans Artur Bossy, Albert Nogueras and Alejandro Rodríguez Pritchard and the Moroccans Radouanne Nour and Mourad El Bannouri. In the women’s category, Cristina Silva, Marina Bagur and Norway’s Oda Hove.
- La Cursa will be held this Sunday with the same route as last year, starting in Avinguda Diagonal and finishing in Plaça Catalunya.
Barcelona, Friday 5 May 2023: This Sunday 7 May at 9 a.m., 26,412 people will run the 43rd Cursa El Corte Inglés in aid of the Pasqual Maragall Foundation, which focuses its research on the prevention of Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases. La Cursa confirms this event as a benchmark in terms of parity in the calendar of athletic events, with the participation rate of women being very similar to that of men. The percentage of runners with a yellow chip has increased compared to previous years, reaching 7,500. The organisers are also very satisfied with the fact that the age groups of the participants are very cross-cultural, a fact that exemplifies the festive, popular and vital nature of La Cursa.
Artur Bossy, the current Catalan five kilometre road and 1500m indoor champion, is a candidate for the podium along with the also Catalans Albert Nogueras and Alejandro Rodríguez Pritchard and the Moroccans Mourad El Bannouri and Radouanne Nour, winner of the Cursa El Corte Inglés in 2017. In the women’s category, the Catalans Marina Bagur and Cristina Silva, winner of the Cursa de la Mercè 2022, the Jean Bouin and the Behobia, and the Norwegian Oda Hove, third in the Cursa El Corte Inglés last year, are the favourites for the final victory.
The start will be at 9.00 a.m. on Avinguda Diagonal, just in front of El Corte Inglés Diagonal, to continue along Passeig de Gràcia, Aragó, Viladomat, Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, Marina, Ausiàs March and Ronda de Sant Pere, where the finishing arch will be at Passeig de Gràcia and Plaça Catalunya.
Contributing to sustainable development and improving public mobility, this year Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) is collaborating in the 43rd edition of La Cursa El Corte Inglés. When they collect their bib number, participants receive a single ticket valid on the metro and bus for their journey on the day of the race. Individual travel tickets have been made available to runners and will be given out while stocks last.
Under Armour is once again an official sponsor of the Cursa El Corte Inglés. As a novelty, Under Armour, specialising in fashion and sports equipment, has produced a limited edition of technical solidarity t-shirts. The profits from the sale will be donated to the Pasqual Maragall Foundation.
La Cursa El Corte Inglés will once again have more than 30,000 litres of Veri water and 20,000 litres of Aquarius Zero, which will be made available to all participants, as these brands are committed to sport and solidarity.
More than a thousand people made up of a large group of corporate volunteers from El Corte Inglés, Guardia Urbana, Institut Barcelona Esports, Federació Catalana d’Atletisme, Creu Roja and Voluntaris 2000 ensure the quality and smooth running of the race. This Sunday 7th May Barcelona respira Cursa!
